Hindustani Vocal & Bamboo Flute Concert
On Sunday Sept 20th, a melodious Hindustani Vocal & Bamboo flute concert was held at Hanuman Cultural Center, Karya Siddhi Hanuman Temple, Frisco, TX. This is frist concert of 3 part series being conducted as part of Sri Devi Navarati celbrations at Hanuman Temple.

This is first Hindustani concert held by Yoga Sangeeta in DFW area, and turned to be a double function! The concert started with vocal performance by child prodigy, Kum Vaidhavi Srinivasan granddaughter of great Vidwan Srirangam R Kannan & daughter of famous Flutist Suramani Srinivasan. Kum. Vaidhavi Srinivasan has her formal vocal training with Pandit Devashis Dey.

Kum Vaidhavi, accompanied by Sri TR Saravanan on Tabala mesmerized devotees with following compositions for more than 45 minutes.
i. Rag Yaman:-Alap followed by tha composition in Teental.
ii. Rag Bihag: Composition in Teental.
iii. Kabir Das Bhajan: Niradhana Ke dhan Rama.
iv.Seasonal Melody "KAJARI'": Kari Kari juki Aayi re badariya
v. Banarasi Dadra: "Dagar bich Kaise chalun mag roke Kanhaiya be peer.

Later, Dr Suramani R.K Srinivasan thrilled devotees at Hanuman Temple with his bamboo flute melodies for over an hour and half with following compositions.
Rag Bageshri: Alap,Jod,Jhala followed by a composition in Rupak and Teen tal.
Surdas Bhajan: Udow karman ki gati nyari-Tal-Keharawa
Dhun in Misra Pahadi rag in Dadra followed by keharawa Tal composition.
He was accompanied by Sri TR Saravanan on Tabala.

Dr Prakasarao, Chairman Datta Yoga Center presided over the function. Dr Poovalur Srinivasan honored artists.

Versatile flutist Dr.Surmani.R.K.Srinivasan ranks among the country’s leading flutists and hailing from a family with a musical background, Srinivasan was initially trained by his father,Vidwan Srirangam R.Kannan,a Carnatic musician and Professor at the Banaras Hindu University. He had his training in flute from M.Nataraja Iyer and in the Hindustani system,he had Pt.C.L.Srivastava, Padmashri N.Rajam and Pt.Jotin Bhattacharya for his guidance. Dr Srinivasan is currently on Fulbright scholar-in-residence at College of Music, Univ of North Texas, Denton, TX.

Sri TR Sarvanan is a multi-percussionist, self taught to play Tabla, was later formally trained under Nikhil Pandya. He had an urge to master the South Indian system and started learning South Indian percussion from Mridangam Maestro Poovalur Sriji. After several years of formal training he also adapted the techniques to play Thavil.

Sri TR Sarvanan has been playing rhythm pads for several Indian light music groups. He regularly accompanies Sitar artist Tom Griffin and Jazz, Flamenco and Latin Guitarists, Russ Hewitt and Alfred Caceres on the Tabla. He accompanies the well-known Nagaswaram artist Sitravel on the Thavil. He is striving to extend his talent to accompany one of the ancient traditions of India, the Bharathanatyam.

Muktha. As a torch bearer of this rich tradition he has earned a name for classical style in rendering kritis, particularly Javalis and Padams. At a program in Bhakti Center, Norwalk, CA (Aug 9, 2008) Sri Swamiji named this program as "Pranarchana Daata". This is a five year annual donation of minimum USD $2500/year or USD $210/month.

- Road 330×60 feet in front (west) of the property (Dec 2009)
- Grading, engineering & permits (Oct-Dec 2009)
- Mason wall (1160 x 8 feet) along north side of temple property (Sept, 2008)
- Trailer with handicap access (Sept 2008)

The community hall building of the Karya Siddhi Hanuman Temple is expected to be ready by May 2009. It will include a large prayer hall, six class rooms along with bookstore, library and modest priest quarters, etc.

With guidance and blessings from Sri Ganapati Sachchidananda Swamiji, the devotees from Dallas Forth Worth area purchased 10 acres of land in January 2008 for the Karya Siddhi Hanuman Temple in Frisco, Texas.

Currently Hanuman Temple (in trailer) is our temporary place of worship. Bala Datta Sunday classes are being conducted in trailer every Sunday morning. Temple is open on Sat & Sunday 10 am to 12:30 pm and 4 pm to 6 pm. Please do come and have darshan of Hanuman & temple progress at 12030 Independence Parkway, Frisco, TX 75035

What does it mean to for Karya Siddhi Hanuman Temple or Datta Yoga Center or DYC Hanuman Temple to be a 501(c)(3) organization? For Karya Siddhi Hanuman Temple or Datta Yoga Center or DYC, this means that we can accept contributions and offer donors a tax deduction for their gifts. For donors like you, this means your contributions are fully tax-deductible to the amount allowed by law. The receipt or email you receive from Datta Yoga Center does indeed meet all IRS requirements as a record of donation.
What is my tax benefit for charitable contributions?
A charitable organization is generally defined as any nonprofit organization that is incorporated and identified by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) organization. On 1040 you can itemize your deductions on Schedule A. If you fill out the short form or take standard deductions, you cannot claim your contributions.The chart below gives the deduction for a single person in each tax bracket making a cash donation of $100.

Jai Hanuman! Jai Mata Di!

Navratri 2008 started last night at the Hanuman Temple in Frisco. The Devi idol, brought especially from India and dressed beautifully for the festival, set the mood for the celebrations. Even Lord Hanuman was dressed up for the festival!

After the chanting of the Lalita Sashranama and singing bhajans in praise of Devi, devotees received blessings from Devi and enjoyed mahaprasad.

Tonight, the Hanuman temple will host Garba after bhajans. Please come, sing, dance and celebrate Navratri at the Karya Siddhi Hanuman Temple!

With guidance and blessings from Sri Ganapati Sachchidananda Swamiji, the devotees of DYC Dallas purchased 10 acres of land in January 2008 for the Karya Siddhi Hanuman Temple in Frisco, Texas. Most recently, we have inaugurated a trailer on the land for use as a temporary temple and started regular activities growing from every weekend to Tuesday and Thursday of every week as well. It is exciting to share the progress of these project with you. Please enjoy these recent pictures of the Temple and trailer

Plans approved for

- Engineering work towards a 330×60 feet road in front (west) of the property

- Car parking for 78 vehicles and surrounding pavements & sever lines

- 1280x8 feet Mason wall along the north side of the property

- Trailer permits acquired and moved

Current work in progress (Sept 2008)

- Installed Trailer with handicap access Trailer

- for use as temporary place of worship & Bala Datta classes (Sunday school)

- Road construction work in progress,

- Mason wall construction started on Sept 15, expecting to complete in 2-3 weeks

- Acquired bids & approve contracts for grading, car parking & sever and utilities

- Plans to renovate and expand current metal frame warehouse from 5000 to 10,000 square feet have been submitted to City of Frisco for approval. This building will host a community hall, Bala Datta classrooms, general office an library along with priest quarters.
